The events of the Harlem Renaissance have influenced art, culture, music, literature, and the like even into today's society. It will be your job to research how the Harlem Renaissance has influenced one modern day writer (either song lyrics, poems, short stories, novels, etc).

In your Google Drive --> Harlem Renaissance folder create a document called "Legacy notes"
Do some preliminary research and choose a modern day artist that has been influenced by the Harlem Renaissance.
Hint- If you are having trouble, try researching authors of the Harlem Renaissance and then researching contemporary authors influenced by that person. Try changing up the wording on your research- sometimes it just takes the right word combination to hit the jackpot!
Find outside sources that discuss how your writer was influenced by the Harlem Renaissance. Take notes from these sources, being careful to cite your sources.
Locate 2 of your author's works, read them, and fill out the "Writing influences" chart. (Chart can be found in the shared RWWS folder, in the Harlem Ren folder)
Write a 2 page paper discussing how the writer has been affected by the Harlem Renaissance.

Your paper will be well-researched using both primary and secondary sources (4 minimum).
Your sources will be reliable.
Your paper will be in MLA format, following all formatting guidelines.
Your paper will be at least two pages in length.
Your paper will fully discuss how your chosen writer has been influenced by the Harlem Renaissance.
Your paper will include a works cited page with proper MLA works cited entries.
You will fill out a self-evaluation on your paper.
